Ceramic candlestick for five candles, made by S:t Eriks Lervarufabiker, Sweden, during the 1930s. A work from the early Swedish Art Deco period, featuring the company's iconic cupric oxide glaze – a signature innovation by John Rudholm from 1928. The unique chemical composition of the glaze creates a beautiful mottled effect in shifting tones of deep green and black, enhancing the sculptural quality of the linear form.
The candlestick is decorated with stylized shell and diagonal relief motifs and rests on small feet and holds five candles. The underside bears the St. Eriks stamp that was used between 1929 and 1937, before the company was acquired by Upsala Ekeby.
Dimensions; Length 33, Width 6, Height 5 cm.
